Ladies and gentlemen, this was my new cosplay for Sakura-Con this year!
For those of you who don't know (which I'll guess is about 95% of you), she's Roll, from Mega Man! (The original installment, for those of you who only know about MM from one installment.)
This cosplay was extremely fun to do! I originally planned on cosplaying as one of the boys, but that unfortunately didn't get done in time for S-C this year. However, it's still in the works and I hope to get it done for next year, or at least another big con. I managed to please a lot of retro gamer guys as Roll, though - they were all very nice, it totally made my Friday! Yay for retro gamers!
The backstory
It was awesome getting to show some love for MM, seeing as how seldom it gets cosplayed (and recognized). I love the series SO much, and have wanted to cosplay from it for a good half-year or so now. When I first got into the series, I wasn't sure I'd ever actually cosplay Roll, however, after playing Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom with *Fantasyrhia one night and seeing Roll kick butt with a broom, I said "alright, I'm cosplaying her. It's gonna happen." My love for her increased even more after reading Gigamix and seeing her talk about how she wishes she'd gotten combat abilities instead of Rock because she hates having to be protected all the time. Strong heroines FTW!
Construction
Making the cosplay itself was pretty straight-forward; I bought a mini-broom for $1.25 and jacked it up, then added the little Rock just for my con-going so that people would recognize me at least a little more. The dress was the only thing that was a bit of an issue since I (somehow) messed up while cutting the pattern, so all of the panels were off. x_x Luckily, my mom is so pro, she was able to get it all back on track. The shoes were also pretty easy to put together - I got a pair of Marie-Jane style shoes from a thrift store for $4 and then painted them red and white and glossed them. They were such eye candy! Then I actually walked in them... And it all went downhill from there. For the record, I DID have them accurate! Just, the paint I used decided to abandon my shoes for the floor. :<
Anyway, I'll be posting more soon!

Great costume! You absolutely look the part! Even without the broom, I'd be sure you were Roll. This is just how I always imagined her since I was a kid plaing the games! Well done!
That is such a tremendous comment, thank you so much, I really appreciate it! <33 n//n Saying that this is how you pictured her when you played the games is probably the biggest compliment a cosplayer could receive, I am so flattered!
My peripheral caught a small preview of your Roll and I had to stop everything I was doing to check it out. (And it was worth it!)
Props to you for the TvC mention. It's such an overlooked game and it's really too bad too. Roll is one of my favorite characters in the game so I'm pleased that you went with that version.
I'm very impressed that you kept your costs to a minimal yet made such a wonderfully accurate cosplay. It looks good (but I'm sure you already know that) and you play the role really well!
Oh goodness, thank you so much! Your comment really means a lot to me, oh my gosh! n///n
I agree, it's a shame that TVC didn't get much attention, because it's such an enjoyable fighting game. And I feel the same way; I was so thrilled to see that Roll was included in the roster.
