Better get some more Pika photos up here! I’m so proud of how this cosplay came out.
I’ve wanted to cosplay Pikachu for... I’d say about 2 years now. Throughout that time it’s moved around the priority rankings of my cosplay wishlist quite a bit, however this year, I told myself that I was going to make it happen. The looks that I’d been considering for the gijinka designs have also changed in my mind throughout the years. I thought of making a male, formal-style gijinka was a tie and vest (I didn’t consider this for too long though). Then I thought of making a dress, either summery style or just a loose sort of dress, but in the end, I went with this spunky, Harajuku/90’s-esque (?) design and I’m so happy with it!
Construction
The top was bought with the original intention of becoming a Pikachu hoodie (to wear casually); I also ended up using it for my Ramona cosplay. XP The skirt, I had previously, as well as the socks (previously used for Rukia). The legwarmers were put together the day before I wore this, since I didn’t get the chance to work on them before (I had both Roll and Pikachu to tend to that week). I originally wasn’t sure whether or not to go with the legwarmers - my first idea was to use a tall pair of black boots I have. I drew out two designs, and even though everyone I asked said to go with the boots, I felt that that would be way too much black to go against the yellow, so I went with the legwarmers. They were much easier to put together than I thought they would be, and I am SO happy with them! The boots (previously used for Touko), I originally wasn’t planning on using, until I tried them on on a whim and they worked really well! The bow (not apparent in most of the photos), I made by splitting a foam ball in half (which I knew would be a messy undertaking, and was > <), then I went and constructed it the way I have for the Pokeballs I’ve made in the past. All the additions (ears, tail, etc.) plus the legwarmers were made from broadcloth, the black was leftover Rin fabric and the brown is fake suede. And the red markings - those are water colour paints -- it is SO strange having water colour on your face. > <
More to come! Only, I may be a little M.I.A. over the next little while because of my school play. > <

Thank you!! So glad you like it! I must say, the hardest part would have had to be making that tail... It went all floppy so I had to be all classy and put cardboard in it. XP
Eeeeeee, glad you like that too! I thought it was a bit much, so I didn't have it in most photos..
I especially like that bow in your hair. It's so cute omgggg
