Behind-the-scenes goodies from this shoot: www.anyapanda.com/2014/06/hats… Wednesday, I had the pleasure of going out for a Miku photoshoot with Fantasyrhia and my dad. Any cosplayer knows that the winter is a rough time for cosplayers who are in need of cosplay photos since most available locations are outside and fictional characters don't often like to bundle up. But since Spring recently leapt at us out of nowhere, we're now able to shoot my new cosplays from Tsukino-Con that I didn't get very much photographic proof of!
This photoshoot has so much significance, I'm not sure I can even properly put it into words. The first thing that makes this photoshoot such a big deal is the fact that it was our first time using our long-awaited reflector. For years, my dad has wanted a reflector to improve the lighting on our cosplay photos and this year, he finally got one for Christmas from my mom. Figuring out how to properly use it took a bit of time, but looking at the photoset we got, I can't tell you how excited we are to see that we've reached that next level of quality. Another thing that makes this shoot so important is the fact that we got photos of a cosplay that I've wanted to do since I was a beginner cosplayer in the very location that, not only has my beginner cosplayer self always wanted to get Miku photos at, but also the same location that my first ever photoshoot took place for my Rin cosplay in the Spring four years ago. Even my dad got a little nostalgic thinking back to how young I was then and how different that made that first shoot compared to this one. Finally, I have to say that looking at these photos does a lot for my confidence as a cosplayer. It's safe to say that this was my first time making a cosplay all by myself since my mom can no longer help me. Accuracy-wise, this feels like one of my most accurate cosplays, which is important to me given just how much we've all seen Miku cosplayed. Going into it, I wasn't sure whether or not I'd be able to pull it all off, especially given the vision I've developed for this cosplay during all these years, so seeing these photos accurately portray all my visions is really exciting.
I'll be editing a vlog I filmed during the day and will be putting together my construction details for this cosplay, so there will indeed be more to share soon! Thanks for looking!
