Over the weekend, I was fortunate enough to get to attend Anime Revolution. It originally looked as if NWFF was going to be the conclusion to this year's con season for me, however I desperately wanted one more chance to spend time with the friends I'd connected with during NWFF in June, so I decided that I would take the opportunity to hit up AR as a day trip. While I really wanted to go to the con, the idea of travelling to it alone and having to change there was daunting, but after much encouragement from my dad, I became really stoked to set off on such an adventure.
I'd been missing my Shingeki friends all summer after meeting them during NWFF. My Eren and I had the pleasure of getting to meet and ultimately form a super close insta-friendship with Margaret, our spectacular Mikasa. Even though she and I'd known each other for such a short time, we missed each other greatly and desperately wanted to have another chance to cosplay Shingeki together. At the same time, while at the SNK meet-up at NWFF, there was a really good (not to mention sweet) fem!Eren cosplayer who we'd gotten some photos with, but for the most part, just admired from a distance. After the con while looking through the con's tags on Instagram, I managed to find her profile and from there we started communicating and developing a friendship. While Margaret and the fem!Eren cosplayer, Adrienne had started hanging out during the course of the summer, AR looked like the one chance I would have to get to see them again. Thus, we made plans for me to come visit and meet up with them to get to cosplay the main trio for Saturday of AR. (Honestly, there's so much special about this whole deal that I'm trying really hard to put into words, so pardon me if I'm not doing the best job. ^^' )
One of the biggest things about this whole experience was the fact that cosplayers you admire from a distance at a con and wonder if they'll ever notice you can become some of your dearest friends. The main trio's relationship, not to mention characters, are so incredibly close to my heart, so getting to portray them with two cosplayers that I'd admired so much during NWFF was amazing, especially because our relationship ended up running such a parallel to theirs. Margaret and Adrienne looked after me just like the real Eren and Mikasa (me being the baby of the group not just as Armin, but in reality as well).
We got to meet up with my good friend, not to mention one of my absolute favourite cosplay photographers, LucidVisualDesigns for a wicked SNK shoot. I am seriously over the moon about the photos he took of us, this shot probably being my favourite - I mean, he seriously gave us the textbook definition of "legit SNK cosplay photo." He got his friend to play our titan by hovering his hand, and eventually his face, right in front of the camera lens while we covered in fear. And can I also mention how stoked I am that we finally found a wall to shoot in front of?? :'D
Seriously, it was all such an incredible experience, I'm not sure I can really succeed in putting it into words. Basically, these memories are so close to my heart and I'm looking forward to getting to share some of them with you all.
... Also, thanks to Margaret, I may or may not have gotten to meet Armin's Japanese voice actress. And I may or may not still be shaking because of it. ;w;
